Anand Vihar RRTS station[2] is an under construction RRTS station in East Delhi district, Delhi, India which will serves mainly higher-speed trains. It is the only underground station of the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (Delhi–Meerut RRTS). It will serve for higher-speed trains on the Delhi–Meerut RRTS that can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h.

With 25 stations, the Anand Vihar RRTS station will be accessible by 2025.[3]

History

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) had invited tenders on 11 November 2019 for the construction of the Anand Vihar RRTS station along with the 5.6 km long New Ashok Nagar ramp–Sahibabad ramp section of the 82.15 km Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (Delhi–Meerut RRTS) line. Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. Limited (STEC) emerged as the lowest bidder for construction work.[4] As a result, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. Limited (STEC) has been awarded a Rs 1,126.89 crore contract responsible for Package 4 (New Ashok Nagar ramp–Sahibabad ramp) on 9 December.[5] Under the agreement, the company started construction of Anand Vihar RRTS station.

Station layout

The Anand Vihar RRTS station will have 2 underground station platforms. The RRTS station will have 2 island platforms, which will serve 2 rail tracks for regular service. It is located 8 meters deep from the ground.[6]
