Edwin Bunting Bartram

American botanist and bryologist (1878-1964)

Edwin Bunting Bartram (28 July 1878 – 2 December 1964)[1] was an American botanist and bryologist.[2][3] He described many dozens of new species in bryology, and contributed 143 works, including a number of books.[3] He was a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia Botanical Club, Torrey Botanical Club, New England Botanical Club, Sullivant Moss Society and British Bryological Society.[3][4]

His collections and publications contributed to the growth of the Farlow Herbarium of Cryptogamic Botany.[2] The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Philadelphia also preserves some of his collected specimens.[5] He contributed 143 publications, including several books, to bryology.[6]

The standard author abbreviation E.B.Bartram is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name.[7]
