Matematik Yunani

Matematik Yunani merujuk kepada teks matematik dan kemajuan yang ditulis dalam bahasa Yunani, yang dibangun dari abad ke-7 SM hingga abad ke-4 AD di sekitar pantai Mediterranean Timur . Ahli matematik Yunani tinggal di bandar-bandar yang tersebar di seluruh Mediterranean Timur dari Itali ke Afrika Utara tetapi disatukan oleh budaya dan bahasa . Matematik Yunani dalam tempoh yang berikut Alexander the Great kadang-kadang dipanggil matematik Helenistik . Perkataan "matematik" itu sendiri berasal dari Attic Greek ''mathema, yang bermaksud "subjek arahan".^[1] Kajian matematik demi kepentingannya sendiri dan penggunaan teori dan bukti matematik umum adalah perbezaan utama antara matematik Yunani dan tamadun sebelumnya. ^[2]
